Story ToolBox: Writing Arc, Build Your Own Rubric
April 2021 - Story ToolBox: Writing Arc, Build Your Own Rubric, April 19 and 26 at 6:30
A writing rubric is a check list of needed things for your writing. It helps with your weakness, it identified your strengths. It asks questions about your genre. It can create goals. It helps with the critique of other's work. It acts as a remind if you find a block or a hole in your writing process. It is a good place to start and a great place to end. It is fluid, changing as you learn, as you master your craft, and it will change as you change.
In this class we will look at how to create a rubric for your writing by looking at different questions to ask of your work. In the first class we looked at examples of questions to ask. In the second class we will explore those points further.
Homework: below is a PDF of the example of the check list you can make. For each of the ten categories, please add short definition as it pertains to your writing. Then mark if this is an area of strength or weakness in your work. Be honest. The only purpose of this sheet is for you to try and breakdown the components of your writing, which will help with self editing. Enjoy. Have Fun.
